Cooroy MOPS leadership team meeting 8 March 2012

Cooroy MOPS leadership team meeting

8 March 2012

Present:  Nagua, Catlin, Linda  Apologies: Doreen

Meeting opened in prayer at 9:50

Our speaker on 15 March will be Jane Tipper.  She’ll speak about her experience as a young stay at home mum of 4 and how she developed her “mumsense”.     The creative activity will be stretching and deep  breathing relaxation exercises led by Nagua.

Catlin will make a teabag blessing for the mums and Linda will make an Easter egg blessing for the carers.

Our next meeting will be 19 April.  Speaker to be decided.  Catlin will speak to Pearl about someone at Hinterland who might speak and Nagua will speak to the nutritionist and ASD specialist about when they might be available to speak next term.

Doreen, Catlin and Linda visited the Cooroy Baptist Church on 4 March.  They were very supportive and encouraging.  Sue Sweet from the church volunteered as a back-up MOPS carer.

The current balance in the Cooroy MOPS account is $182.05 However Catlin hasn’t yet been reimbursed for some craft materials purchased.

Margaret at Hinterland donated a new girls bike that may be raffled for MOPS at the Hinterland garage sale.

Doreen will check with the band “Rockin On” to see whether they are available to perform June 23 or 30 at the Memorial Hall.  The cost to book the hall is $60 and we agreed that $10 was an appropriate ticket price.

The MOPS Australia request for a $10 per mum “Mum’s Participation Fee” was discussed. This fee is due in June.  Although we understand the need for these funds to support the national organization, we agreed that we do not want to ask our mums who are very new to MOPS for additional money this year.  Cooroy MOPS will pay the fee for the number of regularly attending women we have in the next month or so (approx. 5).  Next year we will announce this fee to mums and collect it from regular attenders.
Deborah Mourilyan of Suncoast Christian Church is a former MOPS leader who is starting a quarterly magazine for mums on the Sunshine Coast called Heartbeat.   She will include info on Cooroy MOPS in the first issue and will have magazines available for our MOPS mums.  We will pray that they get the advertising revenue they need to get this positive Christian mothering resource to as many mums as possible.

We agreed to try meeting in the evening at Nagua’s house.   Our next team meeting will be on Thurs. 12 April at 7:30pm

The meeting closed in prayer at 11:15
